really any discussion of this kind has to touch on Coldcut's seventy
minutes of madness JDJ mix.
as far as I know, the mix is totally artificial but is overdubbed with all
sorts of things. and the album is one of the best I own. Purely because they
didn't treat it like a normal mix.

I doubt it. You'd really be surprised at how quickly most ghetto tech dj's
switch records. I used to go check out Gary Chandler when he used to spin
at The Warehouse (now Club 2000
Danny Tenaglia's Global Underground Athens 2XCD :so dark, moody and
perfect...
BTW - I have always been intrigued by these series, they usually feature DJs
I do not know or like, any other recommandations ?

The majority of the series is mixed via ProTools, with the DJ on the cover
only selecting the tracks. This can be verified by poking around on their
web site a little bit. The supposed exception to this being Tenaglia

Y'know, I have a real problem with mix CD's like that. I though the whole
idea of a mix cd was to show some skills on the decks, not how much you
can
pay someone to blend tracks with ProTools. It was a huge
A lot of it's to do with the style, prog trance is all about the 'seamless
mix' and Global Underground is dominated by that style. Gimme Jeff Mills
Liquid Room anyday!! Mills was awesome in Australia this last autumn, can't
believe no one from Melbourne Sydney mentioned it, all that amazing'

If you look carefully at the very first page of the site, it says 'DJ
compilation mixes' :) And further investigation through the message
boards
will uncover messages from people who work there that back that up
More on the subject, speaking of fake mixes DEFX909 anyone?

however, if a DJ has proved that he/she can carry a
live mix (such as
