Bryan, in the US, fake books are essentially books intended to help you
'fake' your way through a piece of music if you don't know it. They differ
greatly in format, from just lyrics to lyrics/chords to lyrics and a simple
melody line and, perhaps, chords. Usually they're for vocal music, since
To the best of my knowledge, a Fake-Book shows the tune's melody line and
chords, usually given in standard dots-on-a-staff notation. This is
enough information for a musician with practice at this to "fake it", that
is, to play the tune with some spur-of-the-moment harmonization or
accompaniment

Anyway, looking at what has happened on my own PC, the installation does not
appear to have overwritten the existing comcat.dll which is newer than the
one supplied with VB
