because the TSM database will fit on one tape. When the TSM
database span across two tapes, then we will be thinking about
doing incremental backup of the database. Keep in mind that you
can only do so many incremental backup of

I can not remember which solution solved my issue.
1. In the readme file it mentions about some value to change in
the setup.ini file.
2. Run the file called instmsiw.exe that's within the

Your right that domain all-local is the default.
Since you are able to backup the local drive manually but not
via the schedul.
I would check the permission for the schedule service to see if
it have the proper permission to access the local drive.

When migrating from TSM 3.7.X to 5.1.X, the data base should be
upgrade during the migration. When you try to start the dsmserv
process and you recieve an error message complaining about the
database, then issue the dsmserv upgradedb command.

message. I ended up uninstalling TSM. Then install TSM 4.2 and
restore the data base.
My brain seem to have a memory leak. I can't remember if we
uninstall TSM and then did a fresh install of 4.2 on AIX.

Because the parameter is set in the dsm.sys file
(Unix) or the dsm.opt file (Windows).
If you do not see the schedmode parameter in the
file then the default is being used.
