We have one 17 mile ptp that's effectively failed, but it happens there are
three turbines directly in the path, I don't think that's all that common,
just a stroke of bad luck. Took forever to figure out why a great link went

If you are a member on the Cambium forums, you can subscribe to the forums for
the specific hardware platforms, and Cambium is usually good about posting
there when they release a new firmware – I find it helpful, even if the
signal-to-noise ratio is a little weak.

I think that’s my biggest issue here also. Trying to be as unbiased in the
matter as possible, the biggest issue I have is that they brought a Dist. and
WISP into the lawsuit. I think if this was filed solely against Cambium,
everyone would have gone, ‘oh, that’s interesting, wonder what’s goi

Excellent, good to hear it is being considered. I find it is especially
important when waiting for fixes.

If I was UBNT, I wouldn't want my previous customers sharing their
experience with Cambium gear either!

We'll see what facts come out in court I suppose.
If there was actual hacking or reverse engineering going on then
Ubiquiti has a case. If it's just loading a different Linux build on
the same hardware, then I don't think they do.
They would feel compelled to try to protect their investment in
The only potentially legitimate issue is with the bootloader, and
then only with regard to version. The old bootloader was open
source GNU, and would load anything. Rolling back to an old
bootloader would be all you have to do to avoid the hacking claim.

You could try reaching out to Epic Games on the NANOG list. I could see
"bad things" happening if they see a bunch of folks connecting from the
same IP/block at the same time.
For bandwidth, low latency to Epic's servers and symmetric bandwidth for
game traffic is probably best since they'll all
Hi Ben,
That is my main point. when i first heard about the lawsuit i didn't think
much of it because competitors sometimes sue each other and they are both
big companies and big companies usually build risks like that into their
business models. When i dug further into the lawsuit and saw that

So our amateur radio "Wi-Fi" (+similar protocols) group has gotten access
to the roof of a large building where we plan to install mounts outside the
walls of the concrete-walled elevator shack for our smaller antennas.
We have heavy-duty mounts - http://www.ventevinfra.com/

Funny thing here is that this is finally a correct usage of the word hack
or hacking. Of course hacking isn't at all illegal when you are hacking
hardware that you own. Not sure where UBNT has a case here. At most there
is a possible end user EULA violation, which isn't illegal and has nothing

A 20' long rectangle 2 inches wide has slightly less square area than a

If your mount is comfortably holding a 2' dish then it ought to hold the

Not engineering advice, just an observation about geometry.

Same area; way bigger moment arm. We have put 2' and 3' antennas
into concrete. We used solid standoffs (like
this), and IIRC, we used 5" long concrete anchors.

Through bolts and a plate is probably ideal but overkill for that antenna.
Sound like a DB224-B. Anyway, I would use concrete anchors like Bill

pretty big that I have used before but the way those work they are one shot
