I just bought an audiophile 2496 card to replace my
ensoniq 1371 card.
I loaded the alsa 0.9beta12 drivers succesfully, but
when I play some audio I get drop-outs every 30 seconds
or so, the audio seems to quickly fade-out/fade-in.
I think it becomes worse if the harddisk or CPU is busy

The failure with alsa-lib was that the gcc compiler
and c++ compiler had diffrent version numbers.
But now I cant install alsa-utils.
I have problems when installing alsamixer files.
alsacfg works.

I recompiled alsa with debug=detect and got the following error in
/var/log/messages:
ALSA pcm_lib.c:2161: capture read error (DMA or IRQ trouble?)
My sound card is using IRQ 5. No other device is on that IRQ, so I'm
baffled, but I'm sure that somebody has seen something like this before.

pp.format.format at SND_PCM_SFMT_U16_LE.
But when I call snd_pcm_plugin_setup and snd_pcm_get_format_name on
setup.format.format it outputs:
--> Signed 16-bit Little Endian
Why is that??

Built alsa 0.9beta10 drivers, libs, oss-libs, and utils. Installed
everything, playback works fine using aplay, but when I try to record I
get:
