What is the VIA DXS control for?
DXS stands for direct sound.

Is there an incompatibility between 0.9.4 and 2.4.21?

hardware mixing. (But you have to use 48 kHz because the DXS's sample

Hey...
I have to admit my latest and greatest mistake.
I'm not trying to insult you, but... You do know that it isn't enough to

Hello,
I just installed alsa 0.9.3a on redhat 8.0.
Everything compiled and installed just fine. I ran amixer to set the Master
and PCM controls to 80% and unmute them.
Now when I run aplay with a wave file, I get no sound out of the pc.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Hi!
Which alsa did you have before. Since I think 0.9.1 or .2 there are more
controls. At least there are more controls visible in alsamixer. Maybe you'll
have to unmute some more extra toggles. Which card do you have anyway? that
might be helpful. If I can't figure out anything others might.
Julien,
This is a fresh redhat 8.0 installation. I finished the install lastnight,
and added the alsa stuff this morning.
The card is an intel8x0-based card.
On a prior installation of redhat 8.0, I got this configuration working, but
I think it was a different pc and different sound card.
Can you try running alsaconf script in the driver.../utils subdirectory.
I have the same setup for my desktop here and everything works
beautifully. The version is 0.9.4, however.

Anthony Dominic Truong.
