Has anyone had any luck with FM801-based cards? The research I've done shows many people have problems with this chip. My card works fine when I use the forte kernel module, but I can't get any sound with ALSA. I've tried 0.9.8 and 1.0.0pre3 with no luck. Even though the kernel driver works

I still don't understand why, but now it compiles. Previously, I used the 'O' option on the make and sent it to a different directory. Apparently, this is broken in the kernel source. I recompiled the kernel in its source directory. Now ALSA compiles. (Still doesn't work, but compiles.)

I compiled my modules using a Debian packager thingy. I downloaded the latest ALSA source (0.9.8) using apt, along with alsa-base and alsa-utils. Then I used make-kpgk to make a deb file for the alsa modules. The error comes when I try to install the deb file. For some reason snd.o will load
