I'm having the same problem on an Intel D815EEA2 mobo running Libranet

AC-DC's Highway to Hell sounded like it was being performed by Alvin and

You do not tell us what the sound source is that you are playing, or are
you recording it.
Your solution is a bit strange. If the apps were recorded at 44100, and
you played it at 48000 then they would be to fast and about a whole tone
too high. You seem to imply that if you play them at 48000 th
Hello, I don't have a fix right now, but I am experiencing the same

I'm running debian unstable with kernel 2.6.3 and the latest debian

A few weeks ago I upgraded KDE to version 3.2 on my
Gentoo box (800MHz P3) and now my audio plays
faster! However, I use XFCE4 for my window manager. I
have kernel 2.6 and I use ALSA. I have an integrated
sound chip on my Intel D815EEA motherboard, so I use
the intel8x0 driver.

First of all, hello to all ALSA users subscribed to the list!
Ok, I've searched the archives for any problems related to mine with
my emu10k1 based Sound Blaster Live! Value card and ALSA 1.0.3 with
kernel 2.6.3. The problem is that mainly in games the sound get

I have a Terratec DMX6Fire 2496 card, and I'd like to record radio
broadcasts through line-in which means input channels 3 & 4 on my card.
Using arecord, I can type for example
arecord -D line_in -d 20 -f cd tst.wav
with line_in defined by the following clip in .asoundrc:
#adcdac 3 and 4
pcm.lin

Hi!
I am interested in multitracking with Ardour. I have everything up and
running and I think it's great! Better than Pro Tools except for MIDI
obviously, and hardware. I am looking into upgrading my sound card. (I
have a SoundBlaster live and I want something more pro) I think the best

Casey,
I too have had nothing but problems with the newest ALSA and it's
integration with the 2.6.x kernels. After having used ALSA for years, I
have gone back to OSS in the kernel. And I agree, the alsa-users list is
very close to useless, even with the developers monitoring it (Takashi,

Anyone who has been following the "saga" of ALSA, and me, and my posts, will
KNOW - I finally got ALSA running on my system, but, at a serious cost. I now
have "introduced" noise/static with any sound recording I do - of which -
this was not the issue with my "default" previous sound within a hd

"audio" is the OSS driver for USB audio devices. As long as that one
is loaded, you won't be able to use /dev/dsp0, /dev/mixer0 etc. for
ALSA's OSS emulation.
Use snd

I have Sonic Edge 5.1 and as I have googled for it and
the chipset, it uses, I have found that it has
modified CMI8738. It was only one site with such
reference, but I have tried it and it works somehow.
cat /proc/asound/cards
