Hello All,
I'm trying to setup my SB Extigy USB soundcard in ALSA so that it can
be addressed as a 6-channel device. Has anyone done this, so I might
copy their .asoundrc file?
I wonder if it even possible to playback through anything other than
the first two channels as apparently the card uses

ok, since cvs alsa drivers refuse to compile if 2.6.4 has alsa support, i've just been
trying to use the sound regularly.
every once in a while the speakers would not work, but headphones would.
now the speakers never work, despite what i change in gnome's mixer app.

The Extigy claims to have that mixer control, but gets confused when
the driver tries to access it.

Hey guys
A recent upgrade to ALSA has meant that anytime there's a high load on
my system OSS emulation locks up, so I thought it was about time I tried
to use native ALSA again with my Extigy.
Problem is that it doesn't work, doesn't seem to want to make a sound.
My system is:
Linux 2.4.18
I'm still getting this error when running alsamixer:
alsamixer: function snd_mixer_load failed: Invalid argument
After some debugging, it appears as though a bunch of mixer settings get
loaded until the one named Digital In Playback Source. After stepping
through that, I reached a call to

Using Gentoo here, I emerged the alsa-0.9.6 packages.
Everything installs fine, I add alias snd-card-0

The drivers are loaded correctly, and I can see my

Howwever, when I run alsamixer I get this error:

You could try unloading the ALSA modules and then plugging in the
Extigy. That's the only way my Audiophile USB will work.

Hi, I've been trying to get my Extigy card to work with Linux, and I've
managed to get it to play fine (although it plays at the wrong speed
with MPlayer, it works for everything else though). The problem I'm
having is with the mixers. When I try to use amixer or alsamixer I just
get errors
anyway, could you comment out #define IGNORE_CTL_ERROR at the
beginning of usbmixer.c? then the error won't be returned but
ignored. please use --with-debug=detect in this case, too, at least
once, for checking which controls are bad.
Hi again,

Probably some problem with old entries in /etc/asound.state. Try deleting
