I just heard it a few minutes ago in Mode B. Two stations on SSB,
several CW, and a lot of FM'ing.
I could barely hear my downlink on a 60* pass, so not sure what's going
on. I was able to get into FO-29 earlier today FB, so I know my station
is working.

then the sat starts fm'ing because they are hogging all the available

If you go back in the list, about a year (or maybe 2, time flies), you
will see very similar discussions as AO-7 went into full eclipse. At
that time it always came out in Mode B until the eclipses shortened and
then it started coming out random, probably depending in what mode it

I was listening for Paul, 2M1EUB/P on AO7 this morning and AO7 was
still in Mode A
I also get on mode A Frank and usually just listen to my own downlink...in
addition when the antennas are burning off during re-entry we can do some
meteor scatter on the trails!

the output power that counts, it is also affected by the antenna gain. 10W
into a dipole is about the same in terms of effective radiated power as 1W

The last time I check a week or so ago the switch over was about 2321Z. I am

Ed, Orbit 65199 was a mode B pass. The switch took place on 65201 @
20/12/2330z
to mode A, then again back to mode B on 65213 @ 21/12/2351z. Have you checked
the log book @ planetemily? I keep listening for you, but only work AA5AM,
KN6ZA or W7LRD on those passes...
