They don't really have to have a reason: they can just claim it violates their terms of service. Part of the Google Play terms of service state your app can't interfere with their company. If they didn't like your app they could just claim so. However, Google removing your app because it doesn't

My app has been published for 2 1/2 years and have 2500+ ratings also. I haven't lost any that I can see. Knock on wood. That said, it sometimes happens that I get an extra batch of "phantom' ratings which are removed a few days later. If you want to complain somewhere, may I suggest Google+
