I wonder how a r r would have done the Kajra Re...which is the
biggest hit of 2005.

You make a good point as well, about ARR's music in Shankar's films.
For that matter even his recent KKS and Boyz did hit the crowd well.
However, one should note that YashRaj,etc are from north. One of my
north indian friend simply hated Shakalaka Baby from Nayak..and it
went on to become a master
a r r was offered Bunty aur Babli which he couldnt do...similarly with other projects which a r r takes a call on.,..while all of your points might be valid, there are reasons (which cannot be disclosed in this forum) for which a r rmight choose or not choose a project ! Hope this clarifies
"Let me put it this way -- Rahman is the king of music. However, his
music does not have the same 'hummability' and 'road' factor that can
get his music blasting on the Delhi's auto rickshaws and Agra's
chaiwalas. Before, you swear at me, let me clarify -- I love Rahman's
music. But, you've gotta a
hello frnds
i know this topc has been dragged a bit but let me clarify my
intentions behind posting the original topic..
my original intention was that if ARR works with the chopra and
johar then his music will get more recognised i dont say that ARR
needs any introduction in foregin coun
I agree with u Rakesh... Right now what a r r needs is a really BIG hit in bollywood...& mabye working with one of these guys could provide it to him...& It's much better working with these guys then doing films like Lakeer, DNJAK, Tehzeeb & wasting all the precious & powerfull gems... like
GUYS,
The real deal here is Yash Chopra or Karan are a big
asset themselves as their Productoion houses are
really big, the fact and the matter here is the
goodwill these guys have in the industry which makes
them get any artist, any music director or a good
technician for infact 1/2 their market
I beg to differ. The Chopras and Johars are good at
connecting with a large majority and this is what Rahman needs more than
anything else. ARR being the versatile composer that he is can do with
occasionally composing 'simple' soundtracks which are strong in melody but not
necessarily overl
In stead of these directors, I am dreaming about Rahman's participation
with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Cheran, and the veteran director
Vishwanthan in hindi, tamil, and telugu respectively. These
people have the ability to bring the best out of rahman. 3 years
back in an interview, Cheran himself
Interesting topic.
However, I believe the answer is quite simple. Its not that Yash and
Karan make stupid cinema (and that all Rahman's movie are intelligent
: case in point - One 2 ka 4?). I think its a very consious decision
on part of Yash and Karan to not take Rahman.
Let me put it this way
I agree strongly that our ARR is far better off not scoring music for meaningless & painful tearjerkers just because fools have made these filmmakers famous. He needs no famous names to be famous. Its better that they stick to their anumaliks and let ARR enjoy the view from the top! egon_sp
I fully go by Aerosumeet words.
yash and Karan havent made any meaningful hindi cinema. me from south
really wonder how they can go away with ... Oops I dont want to
start any flame wars but then they can never make movies like kannatil
muthamittal, or indian or watsoever.
Its better Mr Rah
100% success rate doesn't make them great...their escapist,
pseudo-cultural craps is dragging bollywood into a chasm. I am glad
that Rahman has never worked with them.
