Hi Rick,
Best to install the full suite, makes for less issues in the future and for the
possibility that this may end up being another user server or similar.
You could also think about cloning an existing server and updating the required
references.

Thanks, LJ, I was just wondering if I could reduce my upgrade/patching
LOE (throughout the server group) by using a reduced number of installed
apps on machines I don't want involved in failover. I may have to open
a ticket with support on this.

Great visual, Rick. Got a good kick out of that.
Also - thanks for all of the replies. I was able to fill the position, and will
definitely post in the future with more opportunities. Have a good weekend

Scott, assuming that you are using IIS you might want to check the security
settings there. I have seen in the past that in a version upgrade Microsoft
will suddenly lock down things for “security reasons” which might be blocking
access. I can’t tell you exactly what to look for but if the

I know that others share my opinion that when you are jumping ahead multiple
big versions like this it is probably better to stand up a fresh 8.1.02
environment and migrate relevant data from the old system to the new. That is
my plan when I get a chance to work on upgrading our 7.1

Thank you. I did find the config.properties file and updated all 3 settings

Rick,
I don't have massive experience in this, but it is my understanding that
the best practice is to install the same software on all of the machines in
the group so that any 1 can take over any function at any time in the
future, because you never quite know what the future holds...
On Fri,
Yup. We are doing the same upgrade, and are doing it via the build and
migrate plan, not an upgrade in place.
There are some bugs in the 8.1.02 installers, too, as I am finding. All
the more reason to do it in a simpler environment.

I've got a dilemma that I'm hoping you experts can help me with. Have a

In regards to your post and my earlier response to Terri, looks like I only
nailed two out of the three lines, with missing this one:
arsystem.webreport.onscreen_max_entries.

Good point, it should be easier to get AR working properly then ITSM before
worrying about getting your old data into the mix. I have the fun of building a
new product catalog as part of the upgrade as well as changing from
multi-tenant to single-tenant so it’s going to be a fun ride over here.
Tauf you and everyone on the list are more than welcome but I won’t be picking
up the airfare! It is cloudy and about 60F here today which is about 24 degrees

I am having this same issue. I have done all that you have, along with modify
the mid-tier config.properties file entries:
arsystem.nativereport.onscreen_max_entries=2000
arsystem.FileExport_max_entries=2000
I changed both to be 5000 and yet it still brought back only 2000 after a full
system
Okay, so what I did after I made sure all the values were changed on all three
lines was to do a full system restart, including mid-tiers and it worked for
me. I am no longer limited to 2k records. Hope this information helps you,
Terri.
