Hi all,
Apart from the BMC Remedy IT Service Management 7.0
Architecture pdf book on BMC's support site, what do
you guys use to analyze ITSM workflow to understand
and customize it?
I have done/tried the following:
1. Workflow Logging - always works, but very tedious.
takes time to create test
Rabi, grousing about Remedy the product has always been a favorite
pastime for many of us. You're right, though. It does seem to be getting
worse.

Rabi, I have had success using the Sync Search Database to lead me through
some of the related items in ITSM 7. Unfortunately, log files are about the
only other thing that's been educational. I'm sure that there is a utility

I know there's been a patch out for that for some time - that doesn't
make the application work well on a large system like ITSM 7, unless you

Rick, sync search, forgot to write about that. It hasn't been working

I think that ITSM 7 was purposefully designed this way, you know,
security through obscurity? If they make it so complicated that no one
will dare go near it, then the don't have as many support calls

I've seen Abydos Analyzer do a good job of producing visio diagram of
relationships between forms such as which forms a given form interacts with
and through which object (say filter).
I haven't used it much myself, but based on what I saw few months ago, it
seems to give you at least a good map

Yes, Abydos is a good tool - I only question whether the number of objects
that it has to connect in ITSM 7 would make any output unreadable - like the
CMDB CDM chart/poster/billboard.
I mean, once you get it in small enough pieces to read easily, they're
without the necessary context to make it
Rick, I never saw it work against ITSM, so you're right.
