Thank you for your response. I did have it set to update old records with new
data. It turns out that the issue was the length of the entry id/issue id
field. In prior versions of ARS, the field was 15 characters long. We've been
on it since version 4.5 and hence had forms that had the
Hi,
RRR|Chive actually has a setting for changing the size of the Request ID, or
the prefix for that matter.
This would change prefix to XYZ and the total lenght to 10:
entryidmode = XYZ000
You can go from ARX to Target Server or you can go server to server.
You can even do incremental
So it turns out I have to do a definition and data import to upgrade us to

steps/versions. I started the process only to find something badly wrong when
I double checked my data.

Hi,
You might try to use RRR|Chive to import your ARX data. It keeps the Request
ID intact as a default setting.
source_arx = yourfile.arx
target_server = server
target_user = Demo
target_password = PROMPT
target_disablemergefltr = YES
multipleforms
You have to go into the Preferences and under duplicates set Handle
Duplicate Request ID's By: to Replace Old Record with New Record. That
should work for you. And of course, keeping the request id fields mapped
is crucial.

Thanks folks! John, the quotes were added by excel. I tried taking them
out to see if that affected it, but no go
Fred, I'll pull a .arx and see if I can't replicate it.

I would convert it to an ARX format
The difference between CSV and ARX is not that great. In ARX the line
break is \n in the text. The separator is a space instead of a comma.

I have been batting this around for a bit. I feel like I've done this
before, but I can't seem to figure it out.
I've got a .csv file that needs to be imported into remedy. I'm using the
arimport tool.
It's a straightforward file with one exception. One row has a line break
in each entry. It

Yesterday, I had a batch of bad people records that I had a user fix in a
csv file and then imported with the People ID to update the relevant
records. That occurred successfully. What confused me a bit is the last
modified by and last modified date fields didn't update as I would
expected.
Ben,
Import is stealth unless you map values to last modified fields. Was this
way on 5.1.2 and is this way on 7.0.1P2.

Merge has always behaved this way, and the behavior is by design. The
user doing the Merge is only limited in what they can change by their
change permissions to the fields on the form.
Merge can even do things like:
remove data from a diary field
alter the 'Create Date', 'Last Modified By',

To answer your latest question -
Importing Company data is one of the very first things you should do because just about every other table references the "Company" filed as part of its data. For example - in PCT:ProductCatalog, the Manufacturer field must match a valid Company were Company Type
into the
CTM:SysGroupPermission form, and then import into the company form. Thought
this might help somebody else if they run into this problem

Can you import assignee group from a csv. Everytime I do it, my assignee
group always goes to Public, even though my csv file contains different
values. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong.
Thanks
Kevin
Kevin,
Based on the supplied information I can not tell if it is a bug or a
human error. :)
A few question to try to short it out.
Can you supply a sample data value for a row or three?
Are you using group ID format or English string formats?
Have you looked at what a CSV file, that was
