Re: Jet Suits
@11I'm already familiar with the plethora of prototype jetpack experiments, part of that started back in the, ah, 1960s? Or that one from the russian inventor in 1919. The same logistical and physics issues apply yes, higher altitudes mean less air pressure means less

Re: Jet Suits
@9There's an old urban legend that scientists have no idea how bumble bees fly. There's a little bit of truth to it, but mostly it just comes down to we know enough and no one's interested, not some mystery.@10The scalability of this is limited by the weig

Re: Jet Suits
@camlorn, I kind of wondered. For awhile I was afraid Ironcross was insinuating we experiment on overweight people until we find the answer... I'm willingn to accept I may be misinterpreting the idea though given I'm working on so little sleep at present.
Re: Jet Suits
@5That's sarcasm, right? if not, the bees thing is an urban legend. It's about force relative to size, not actually the size itself.@6They were called blimps. Overall I'm not sure why we don't still use them offhand. Probably similar can't fight th
Re: Jet Suits
I want to fly! Granted this doesn't sound too safe right now, but when it is count me in.

Re: Jet Suits
Wake me up when domestic airships are a thing. Not sure why, but the idea of being able to fly to most places in the world while relaxing on the deck of a ship floating 200m above the earth is very appealing to me.Alos, cover the damn thing in solar panels. Assuming the
Re: Jet Suits
Study bumble bees, no way they should be able to fly with that fat body and stubby wings. What are they doing. When we understand that, we might have the key to some of this.

Re: Jet Suits
These technologies can't usefully work until and unless we have incredibly major advances in materials science and batteries. Until then, yeah it's doable, barely, but it's also a dead end. Also, people have tried to do self-driving aircraft taxis. We don'
Re: Jet Suits
A fuel supply on my back? While I'm speeding through the air? I dunno; supposing a stray bird hit it just the right way and all of a sudden I'm a flying flame? I guess that would present a whole new meaning to shooting star, but what do I know.
Re: Jet Suits
One part of me is like hell yeah! Another is like... oh shit, people are going to die in this thing. I don't suppose you could wear both a parachute and this backpack which is part of the suit. Hopefully the suit itself has a parachute in it because if not, yeah man
Jet Suits
Some may have heard of Richard Browning, a former Oil Trader and Royal Marine Reservist who developed his own Jet Suit in the equivalent of his back yard through a series of careful trial and error experiments into a commercial company called Gravity. The suit itself, or at least
