Re: Trying out Linux. There's been no movement on AC for a good few months however. You can configure a stock ubuntu Mate to be fully accessible and you /will/ learn how the system works. You do /not/ need a blind specific distro, instead I'd suggest starting with a Mate install

Re: Trying out Linux. To expand on @2:Vinux was based on Ubuntu 14.04 which was released 4/414, or April. It ran out of support in April this year. Also, for Ubuntu Mate. Stick with the LTS version, not the other version. The LTS has a lot more support behind it than the interim
