Don't worry, I agree it is not an absolute test I've done in any way. I
believe it is useful in trying to find out what the MS decoder does, but
we really need to look at the code or talk to someone who knows what
functionality is included to be certain.

Yup...it would be kinda hard for you to drive to the original London

I know Dennon implements HDCD in the receiver for some of the later

In my opinion reviews based on someone's subjective impressions of audio
quality are totally meaningless. On the other hand it sounds as though
the parts of the review which are more objective (build quality etc.)
are quite positive.
