Hi there guys,
don't know if this is the right place to post such a question, but I
was just wondering about the possibility of a digital transport in the
true sense? I shall explain:
I currently use an SB3 as a digital source for my stereo system (as my
CD player gets used less and less these
I have a DCS delius/purcell Transporter. My standard configuration is
to source the Master clock from the Delius to the Transporter. This
works well and the improvement is clearly auduble.
I have purchased some 88/24 96/24 flacs from Meridian, and have
managed to play them on my Transporter,
If you try to play a 88/24 flac on the Transporter with a 44.1 Master
clock, as I have done, the file will play - but at half speed !.
The only way out of this is a firmware/hardware change in the
Transporter or an external clock multiplier.

Thanks AndreSz for those helpful posts. From what I found on the
Setting Transporter to Slave for World (sic) Clock Input thread, I
had gathered that the half-speed effect might be a problem. I am
disappointed that the Delius will only output 44.1 or 48 clocks as
well: I had assumed that I
Not the first time this has been asked. I think the problem is that it
wouldn't remove much from the BOM, so you'd probably be looking
somewhere north of $1,500.
Considering the inherent advantage (jitter-wise) of a one-box solution,
the 'full' TP is likely to sound better than one with an
Ciaran, the only way to get something is to ask for it, and I'm sure if
enough people ask then it will happen (in some form). The slim/logitech
guys have an excellent track record of listening to these forums and
using it to improve their products.
The Transporter is a great piece of kit and I
Fair enough,
if there would be no significant reduction in cost, then there is
little point. I was looking at partnering with the new John Westlake
DaCapo DAC, which is actually looking to be about half the price of the
Transporter and would replace my pre-amp as well, and it just seems a
shame

perhaps both, Sean said CPU cycles aren't there. faster/wider takes

Embedded stuff starts out a lot more competitive. An $8 CPU is
expensive,
To follow up, I sold my Ayre CD player for $1700 and picked up a Classe

Personally I would like a transporter transport in a shoe box 1/2 width
box. I would buy one of those in a shot. For some odd reason I prefer
the smaller boxes, and no, i don't really know why.
Ideally I would like to see an agreement with Cyrus to put a squeezebox
in one of their cases. I'd pay
I haven't had time to investigate further unfortunately.
However, the most likely explanation is that noise from the PSU is
making its way through the ring main to the hifi. In my case my system
is pretty resilient to mains gunk, but it could be that the TP is
susceptible.
The other possible

Nah - you'll be fine.
Provided you don't mention Firmware 15 :o)

I got my SB and once I had all my cds online found I never used my cdp
any more. I sold it and bought a DAC and have never looked back. (Had
to buy the DAC as the SB on its own just didn't sounds as good as my
cdp).
One extra benefit of the DAC was that I can use it with TV and DVD's
