Hi folks.
I forked that volume control discussion to the developers forum.

I'd like to see a reference for that. I know they were using their own
curve in the early hi-fi era, but I have Decca Lps from the late 50s
that are clearly marked RIAA.

Sorry back at work
Will check this evening. I am pretty sure i put custom-convert.conf in
several locations.
I did have a look at server.log which was meaningless to me as I am
illiterate, but it didn't look good to me -like being shouted at by a
policeman in a language you don't understand.

Try as I might, I was never able to spot the ever elusive unicorn some
audiophiles call 'blacker blacks'. Although the audiophile press and
brochureware abound with such terms, I'm at a loss as to what the hell
does that mean?
Can someone enlighten me? How would I go about detecting 'blacker
That's what's so good about standards. There are so many variations of

Blacker blacks? We're not supposed to know these things. As mere
mortals, we cannot possibly hope to understand them. They come from
another realmanother plane of existence. Only the

I'm reminded of Spinal Tap and the Black Album:
In the 1984 film, lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel looks at the album cover
for the first time and opines, It's like, how much more black could
this be? And the answer is none, none, none more black.

Ya know..if it was something as simple as Whiter Whites, it would be a
small matter to direct you to the laundry detergent aisle at your local
supermarket.
When the fringes of the audio press are populated by Seers, and
poets...is when we begin to hear phrases like Blacker blacks, etc, et
al.

As yet another guitar player, and former hi-end hi-fi manufacturer
employee, I'd have to agree that 'mechanical' items DO change with
time. Usually this is in a good way (guitars, speakers, turntables) We
used to run amplifiers 'flat-out' into a dummy load for around 72 hours
before shipping

At some point the discussion becomes less than meaningful. Phil is

Umm, as I recall, Heraclitus has been known for millennia as The

impenetrable, often without apparent sense.
He could easily be the patron
