I actually feel this is a very important question, but the focus should
be on the netbook (or any computer for that matter) player software.
This is all problematic at the moment... Squeezeplay and Squeezeslave
both have limiting issues with audio devices they will address, and

Well of course a lot depends on the quality of your mains supply

Yes Phil - I was considering using Foobar 2000 as player software
because of its respect in the audiophile community - plus you can get
the Foobar remote on Android now. I understand that Foobar can bypass

No it's not sound quality - it's future proofing. I

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it

Hi Klaus:
Have been using your Toolbox 2.0 for months with my main system
(digital output enabled into a Cambridge Audio 840C DAC) with excellent
results.
Having recently acquired a second SB Touch (for the bedroom), I tried
the Toolbox with the analog output enabled into my headphones amp.

Many of the high resolution vinyl rips that you are speaking of are
done for various different reasons such as:
1) The LP has not been released on CD
2) The vinyl is often some type of audiophile release, e.g. 180 gram,
virgin vinyl, half speed mastered,
