As always, what's good for my ears may not be for yours, so do try to
audition the amp with the Kefs if possible. A good dealer should let
you take the Audiolab home for a trial. Mine did.

I've noticed a minor issue with information displayed in 'extended text'
mode on my Transporter. For a few albums, the album title displays fine
in small text on the RH display, but the artist (large text) is blank.
The tag data seems to be correct. Any ideas?

Speakers and headphones are the most likely components to benefit from
burn-in, being electro-mechanical. My Grados sounded pretty damn good
from the offset, but better after a good few hours.

As Greg suggests, most IR remotes will happily bounce a signal off a
white(ish) wall or ceiling and the reflected signal always seems to
have a wider field of view so is less directional.

it arrives, one it take it easily, but pride of place (and my

Utilising the case/chassis as a heatsink is a much more elegant and
efficient design solution compared with drilling lots of holes on the
case which let a little heat out and a load of dust in.

I like the Transporter. The front panel buttons (to my eye) are fairly
discreet giving (particularly the black model) a unified appearance;
just a black box with a single knob. I agree that black rack handles
would have been an improvement though.

FLAC is also perfect as an archiving format too. You can easily
transcode from FLAC to any format you choose, but once it's in MP3,
it's in MP3 for good unless you want to lose even more detail.
