I did know that - this is what I get for not quoting posts! Sorry.
Personally I'd much rather use Inguz if I wanted a certain tone rather
than force a DAC to do it. Square peg, round

Now I'm not trying to be confrontational here, but do people really use
DACs as tone controls? Really?
Isn't that like using a wrench to hammer a nail? Are people afraid of
tone controls in preamps that much?
I know that tone controls in preamps (and indeed, preamps

Nice way to put it SoSleepy. I have not heard that term used with MP3s!
Hope you don't mind but
If I were you, I would look at an external DAC. If SB output sounds less
detailed, less brilliant... less like what you expect it to be and if
your CD player seems much better.
Be sure you play FLAC or other lossless format, make sure you compare
CD and SB with the same interconnect cable and
Maybe a Transporter is a better match your system? That said, it's also
got a neutral, analytic sound which you're coupling with the usual
'accurate' BW characteristics.

Sorry about the vague language. Has anyone had a similar impression of
the squeezebox and if so, what steps did

Rather than distort things greatly, I would start with the Inguz room
correction system.
It's less of an EQ, and more of a room repair setup.
