It's mislabeled on Ebay. Should be a WM220-1 (see pic). This looks a
lot like one of those listed in the chart here:

It doesn't say 'Linear', but does

8$...
A picture of it there shows a 5v. 2amp. output.
Is it a linear PS? Regulated?
Could it be even better than the usual WM075... ones ?
Any help on this would be appreciated.

It is described as linear regulated and 'secondary switch mode
technique'.
It's a plug in unit, which suits me better than the inline CPC unit.

Not withstanding M3Rocket's comment, the Squeezebox smps wall-wart is
rated at 2Amps (10VA), but the CPC 1.5Amp (7.5VA) linear supply works
well with the three players I know of. In comparison with the 1Amp

The PAR-0530 is not suitable. It is rated at 0.3 Amp which is nothing
like sufficient for the Squeezebox. The PAR-0510 has the best spec at
1 Amp, which may be enough, you will have to try it to find out.
I can confirm the CPC power supply is linear - I've had a look inside
it - and it is
Thanks afblaster,
You seem to know what you are talking about, so I will settle for the
CPC psu. Since people are confirming its success, and your confirmation
about it being Linear is good enough for me.

Does anyone have a source for a reasonably priced linear wall-wart PS

I'd like to try this but haven't been able to find one.

No, but they are not powerful enough. You need at least 1.5 amps with
your 5 volts.

Actually, the -minimum- requirement is 1 amp--it's in the Slim Devices
spec sheet as well as measured by someone on AudioCircle.

Seems that 1.5A output would be sufficient, even for wireless mode with

I have an Elpac linear PSU on Ebay right now.

It's plug and play with the SB and sounds great.

Can I suggest you try (demo) a non-oversampling DAC?

I don't believe this is correct. Even on the Slimdevices home page re
SB3 specs...
The minimum is indeed specified at 1000ma (1amp) but it is considered
good engineering practice to double the specification to take account
of production tolerances, heat and types of use. The stock wall-wart

I will recheck using a different meter - this time digital, calibrated

I found an Elpac regulated power supply on Ebay for $8.- with free
shipping. The seller has 3 mora available, if you are interested...
The wall wart is mentioned in the audiophiles tread on this forum as a
replacement for the shipped psu with the SB3.
Search for External Regulated 115 VAC
Heuer,
Thanks for the detailed instructions. I think I can swing all that.
cvj,
Thanks for that lead as well. I'm sure someone else will jump on it.
