No This 6dB per bit stuff, is about all linear encoding. Every
additional bit of information, buy's you an extra 6dB of signal to noise
ratio. That's why 16 bit CD's have a maximum potential SNR of 96 dB,

Exactly.
The 24-bit control in the TP/SB3/Receiver is very good.
This 6dB per bit stuff is all about 16-bit not 24!!!
Don't sweat it. The best sound you will g
As soon you use the Transporters volume it opperates at 24bit afaik, so

You trust TAS on something technical? Dream on. They review things as

Just borrowed a coworker's copy of TAS and read their review of the
Transporter over lunch.
One of the things they mention is that you it loses some fidelity if
turned below maximum output, which suggests that plugging directly into
an amp may not be such a good idea.

Good morning Ligald,my Transporter is connected to my Preamp via Linn
Silver interconnects (RCA)unbalanced.
my preamplifier(Timpano); is from a German audio company called Bonnec
Audiosystemes.
they are hand built units and have a very low noise floor.
my other audio components are connected to th
Hi Dennis,
How is your Transporter connected to the power amp, with RCA or XLR?
What kind of passive attenuation are you using? I had mine connected
via RCA (with built-in attenuation) and I'm upgrading to XLR by adding
external attenuators (I just ordered Endler's ones) and I'm very curious
to s
hello ligald, looking at your setup which is similar to my own i would
not describe them as a "high end" system products.
Linn and Naim do high end/expensive streamers.
i've never sought a so called high end setup which normally cost many
thousands !.
i'm very happy with my modest setup Ligald,as y
Hi,
Before buying my final setup, I was really interested in Parasound and
I auditioned the combo A21/P3; I was really disappointed.
As the A21 really has an excellent reputation, I think that the problem
came from the pre-amplifier. This experience definitively convinced me
to go into a pre-am
One issue I just realized is that since my home theater plays through
the same fronts as my 2-channel listening, I do still need a
pre-amp...in my case, the integrated amp. If I ever build a dedicated
2-channel setup in the future I might go this route though. I had
auditioned some Parasound Hal
Hi,
I just bought a new system with the Transporter plugged directly into
the power amplifier and I can only highly encourage you to do the same.
Having a high-end system, the result is simply superb! The shortest is
the signal path, the better is the sound quality. Furthermore you'll
save the ex
I think as a general rule, the less 'stuff' you have between the source
and the speakers, the better off you will be. I have a Krell setup,
which uses balanced connections throughout. I tried using the
transporter direct to the poweramp via balanced, and managed to convince
myself that it sounde
I've heard positive reports of plugging a Transporter straight into a
power amp, bypassing a preamp entirely. Assuming you had a decent pre
or an integrated amp, would it be advantageous to take advantage of
that? Or would that extra step most likely degrade the signal?
