So what sunglasses are people using these days for gliding. I need bifocals
and I have a current script. Have used various blue blockers over recent
years and found them to be very good
Thanks Stu... do you wear your normal script glasses underneath the Soarers?
Can’t be much room as they are wrap arounds.

We have just introduced a range of sunglasses designed for soaring pilots.
They are a wrap around style for UV protection, have interchangeable lenses
for different light conditions.
Lenses are polycarbonate and shatterproof.
There is five styles including one that has a clip in prescription
The sunglass thing depends whether you need correction or not. If not
it's easy. Just buy a pair that suit you.
I've tried Suntigers (awful - lose all colour sense and see the world
as yellow tinted mono chrome, also fail to see paddocks full of

I purchased a pair of cycling sunglasses for Triathelon training, they are
excellent. Have a great wrap around lens, shielding your eyes from the sun
when sidelit and are supplied
in Australia.

Ben,
If you can use straight (ie non-prescription) sunnies you can't go
better than Sun-Tigers with yellow tint. If you need prescription
lenses then go for Zeiss SkyPol in bi-focal format. They offer a nice
brown tint which is fine for most eyes. For a current review of
options see

I also bought sunglasses after the discussion on Aus soaring. I got some Ol' Eagle Eyes from Dennis Cummings in Byron Bay, did it all on the phone, posted him my prescription, got glasses with small bifocal regions.
I am thrilled with them, they are red/pink which doesn't abolish colour vision
