The library in Horta has the various parish records going far back. I
have copies of baptism certificates of my grandfather's oldest brother
who was born in 1869.
The records are stored by parish, then by year and by date.

figure out how to paste the photo into the message.
Thanks!

Trevor,
My grandfather was Portuguese and my understanding from recent posts is that
only parents' Portuguese heritage counts toward citizenship these days, yes?

I do have all the Census from ancestry. I tried to correct the spelling of my
uncles name but no luck. I did tell them I know the correct spelling because
it was the case of two brothers marrying two sisters and that was my maiden
name but I guess it is once it is there it can not be changed.

Group,
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any idea if it's possible, if
your document-proven great-grandfather is Portuguese, given minimum residency
and passing the language test?
Thank you.

Thanks, Sonia. When I used the old address I had up to now, I get "Page Not
Found" although the Library Site logo is listed at the top. The ones you
now note are both different from the one I had been using, so I will update
my favorites.
Thanks, again.

As far as I'm aware (and I'd be the one who'd ok work to the site ;)), the site
is up and running.
There are two addresses that can be used:
http://www.lib.umassd.edu/archives/paa/PADigitalNewsColl.html (where you then
click on the box to search);
or
https://news.arcasearch.
Two things as to when the picture was taken. The size of the photo looks
like it was taken with an early Kodak box camera, which was common in the
late 20's early 30's. The other is the style of clothing which looks like
about the same era. So to guess I would say about 1930.

I tried to access this with the site address I had but I guess they are
redoing the site and I was unable to access the newspaper section. Can
anyone tell me when they will be back online and what the new site address
will be?
