Edgar, First, I want to thank you for all the time you have taken to help me. I have now connected with my cousin Eleanor and we have compared many records. What you sent seemed to be a perfect fit until we realized that this Mary P Joseph died at age 89 in the Azores. All the names and facts

John, Doesn't the city of Buffalo have a birth certificate for her? They may also have an archives department which you can probably check on line. Ginny Swinson - Original Message - From: John Machado To: azores@googlegroups.com Sent: Sunday, February 10, 2013 5:21 PM

Eleanor, I am so happy and excited to hear from you. I have lots of questions. Edgar advised me of the infant Arthur Perry Madruga, born December 11,1894 and died October 12, 1896. I am not aware of an infant girl or her death - that would make eight children. I will check the city archives and

Sam, Thanks so much for taking time to email. As far as I know my family members all stayed in Massachusetts. Most are still here in Gloucester. Unfortunately my Portugese grandfather died when my dad was only 5, so not much to go on. Ginny (Madruga) Swinson - Original Message -

Dear Eric, Thanks for taking time to look for their records. They did not have a son Arthur. Manuel and Phillipa had six children, all born in Gloucester. I have corresponded many times in the past with Jeff Madruga in California, Arthur may be one of his family. Thanks again. I will check out

Pam, Working backward from the death record which indicates age at death, in Gloucester, Ma, she, Phillipa should be born about August 24, 1865. I will check the link you have suggested. Thanks for taking the time. Ginny (Madruga) Swinson - Original Message - From: Pam Santos To:

Pam, In my original post I have given the names and dates of birth of their six children, all born in Gloucester, MA. All records have been taken from the city of Gloucester archives. The parents dates of birth are approximate based on their age at death in Gloucester. Place of birth - Azores.

Pam, I looked at that page for a long time. I didn't see Felipa. Perhaps I'm not looking at the right page. I don't speak Portugese and am having a difficult time deciphering the information on the page. Please advise. Ginny (Madruga) Swinson - Original Message - From: Pam Santos

Pam, I am rechecking my records for Phillipa. I may have made a mistake. There are conflicting records. Her marriage certificate says she was 21 when married in 1883. That means born in 1862. Her son Manuel was born 1899, which means she was 37. Her obit (1921) says she was 55 - born 1866? The
