If the street name is changed, it's possible that someone would know about it
locally. But no sense putting the horse before the cart.hopefully it will
be on the map!

both the old and new names. Don't know about smaller freguesias and smaller

Ken,
My cousin is currently in Terceira, and he is going over to Graciosa next week.
I will ask him to pick up a street map of the island for you. He knows Graciosa
very well since he has been going there since he was 8. He is now in his 40's.

This isn't a map but it's a list of streets and postal codes for Graciosa.
Not sure if all streets are there. It has been interesting for me to browse
my Sao Jorge communities so it might be interesting for you to look at
Graciosa.

Don't be surprised if the street name is changed or is no longer there.

Hi Susan,
Wow, I didn't know about that. Thank you so much for catching that. Does
anybody on the list know where I can get a good map of Graciosa that would
include street names? Google Maps only labels no more than 5-10% of the
streets for the island. There must be a better map somewhere---s
The archives that holds the records for Graciosa is in Angra, on Terceira
(they hold Terceira, Graciosa, and Sao Jorge islands). The dispensation for
all 9 islands are in Angra (since Angra is the Diocese seat).
I seem to remember all inter-island flights are SATA.

You may be able to look on Google Earth to find the street before you go. I
remember Joao showing us his home on the island using it. Just a thought.
I hope you have a great trip and find what you want to.

Hi Ken,
I think you have made some great decisions and are making wonderful progress!
Sorry to scare you off of SATA but I have a feeling that the flight that you
take from Terceira to Graciosa might be with SATA? I really am no expert at
all, but I want to reassure you, if it is, that those i
All,
Thanks so much for the replies and suggestions. I combined all my comments
and updates into one e-mail in order to avoid posting too many individual

Given the comments I saw on SATA it sounds like using TAP as proposed may
be a good choice. I think I'd like to pass on get

*I agree with Susan and Rosemarie. You're dreaming if you think you can
visit more than one Island in 3 days and do it justice. Your time would be
better spent doing one island well. The $82 trip to Terceira sounds like a
good deal. Summer is a great time with a lot of Festas and Portugues

I don't think so LOL

I fly SATA all the time. They have improved greatly and except for the uniforms
of the cabin crew and the exterior design of the plane, you'd be hard pressed
to differentiate SATA from TAP. Unfortunately, neither airline serves the
great meals that TAP used to serve, and the bar service is almo
I haven't flown SATA recently. Maybe I did about 10 years ago. They were
fine at the American airport and in the air. But when I landed over

get the baggage. Other than that, I didn't have problems, but like I said,

My grandfather, Manuel Correia Silva, was also from Covas, Graciosa. He was

anything to share.

Ah yes, SATA. I like Susan's diplomacy! There's the nickname "Sitting At

We were fortunate to be on a tour with a guide who knew that SATA owed us a

Hello Ken,
Cheri mentioned SATA and I just want to say that I have had some issues with
SATA as it is hard to explain but three of three
times I have flown with them have had long delays, one overnight. I am not sure
about TAP, but think that I want to try flying to the mainland and then taking
Hi Ken,
I have friends who are in the process of owning a B&B in Santa Cruz, Graciosa.
If you are interested, I can send you the info.
You have to take the ferry or fly from Terceira to Graciosa.
My grandfather was a Silva from Covas, Graciosa and his niece who is in her
90's lives near Guadalupe
SATA may fly to TER as well.

Hi Everybody,
I just booked a 2-week open trip to Spain and am hoping to include a swing
through the Azores out of Lisbon maybe for about 3 days. I have so many
questions, looking for advice from those who may have visited. First of
all, it would be wonderful to look up da Silva family on Graciosa
