Cheri, you forgot about the spa. It is a great place to sit in the sauna and
just catch up with others in the group.
Sorry I can't make it this time.

The amount of noise we make down there on the International Floor when
researching - I guess they are used to large groups (we sit away from the
Information Desk so we don't drive them crazy). One evening, Nancy Jean
commandeered the TV in the hotel lobby away from the guy watching the ball
game -
Eric, you would have a good time and learn a lot. It's just fun being with
others that are doing the same as you. Not only do you have classes during
the day but Cheri and I work with you (and others) one-on-one in the
evenings. Hope you think about coming with us all!

Thanks again for your help on this! I will look into the trip - sounds like
an amazing experience!

Yes, you have the date and most of the names.
Groom's mother is Maria Simoes (it looks like a "Y") but it's a "es."
Weird, but you'll get used to that script.
At the bottom it says everyone is from that church, so you should be able
to find the baptisms there. Further research will let you know
Eric, you are doing really well! Manoel's Mom is Maria Simoes, the Priests
sometimes make an "S" at the end of the word look like a "Y".

Thank you! I had gone right by it! Ugh! And yes, I would love to learn to
read these better - how often do you go to Salt Lake City?
Here is what I think is the pertinent data ...
11 Nov 1771
Manoel Marques Pereira
Son of Manoel Marques Alfonso and Maria Simoy (?)
Barbara Goularte de Oliveira
The marriage of Manoel Marques and Barbara Goularte is top right:
http://goo.gl/dUYQOt
It looks like in the body they wrote the groom as Manoel Marques P^a and
the bride as Barbara Goularte dOlivr^a.
I'm going to let you try it first by yourself.
You need to come to Salt Lake with us to learn
Unfortunately no luck so far ... I looked through all of the Topo marriage
records, and couldn't find it ... many of them were in bad shape, so it's
entirely possible that it's there, but just not legible.
While looking through other records, though, I did find something that I
would love all
OK, good tip, thank you!

I was combing through the obits and found one for a 5th great-hgrandfather,
Manoel Marquez Pereira ...

If I am reading this correctly, I think it says he died 26 Jun 1821 ... if
Yes, Manuel Marques Pereira died 26 June 1821 aged 74 more or less.
Don't go looking for Manoel's baptism yet. Go find his marriage to Barbara
Goularte. That will give his parents' names and then you will be sure you
have the right Manoel.
