Hi all,
got another one, I don't understand. I configured 4 hosts, of which 1
has a very poor network connection. I expect the first full backup to
need about two days. Now, this full is running for about 15 hours and
the cgi-interface status page shows me:

Use Windows Backup to save System State data. Create a job that runs
periodically and saves the data on the local machine. To restore from
bare metal:
1) Install Windows and get the system on the network.
2) Use BackupPc to restore the files to the new system.
3) Use Windows Backup to extract

As silly as it may sound, I have had some success using VitualPC or
VMWare or similar PC simulators rather than trying to restore a Windows
PC from scratch. The beauty of it is, you can have several sitting

Tricky question which I'm sure someone else here can answer (and I'm a UNIX
guy so not that involved in Windows-type installations). But bare-metal
installs normally start with PXE-boot t
Aloha,
Is there any hope for adding bare-metal restore capabilities to BackupPC
for Windows clients?

the way we've been doing off-site backup is usually:
- get a second backuppc server somewhere offsite, backing up the most
critical information
OR
- use a tape backup system (which has the advantage of

How is a couple of formats going to wear out a drive? I did not go
into
further detail, but now I will:
There were *so* many more problems in the article you linked than the

now it works).
I have to backup some Win Laptops, but I only want to save some file types.
So i set $Conf {BackupFilesOnly} to '*.doc', but backuppc saves only
word files that are in the "root" of the module (setting it

a little after 7:00 A.M., the backup server starts an archive of each
host, which is stored on a second hard drive that is mounted in a
removable tray. Once this is complete, the user can shut dow
