Since you are ok with hints and guesses :)
The link below discusses an issue with a different application but using
the same version of Compress::Zlib 1.42-1.fc6 and the same symptom
Compress::Zlib not found. Workaround is to force reinstall of
Scalar::Util.

Evan, if you dont mind me asking, what is your hardware setup. How many
hosts and what type of host do you have an how do you like ZFS in this
environment? Do you run into RAM issues with ZFS? Do you use backuppc
compression or have ZFS do the compression?

I'm seeing extremely slow backup speeds. Far slower than anything I'd
expect given our network layout.
We have gigabit connections and my network testing shows that we
average around 105+ Megabytes / second between the two machines. So
network throughput is definitely not the limiting factor

it's a shame that there's not an option for an email address.
as it is, the email address has to be a combination of the main host login,
and the destdomain.
or am i wrong...?

on the second point, yes, you can override the backup method in the host
based config files. i use tar, rsync, and smb, depending on the host.
as a more general question, what can be overridden and what cannot, in the
machine based config files? are there any restrictions?
specifically, can $Con
Works fine for me. Been using it for a year now. Even survived an
upgrade from 2008.11 to 2009.06 -:)
The most time consuming thing I had to do was install the required perl
modules.
I did this via CPAN.
Make sure you have gcc and sunstudioexpress installed first.
Also, install the latest rsync.

I recommend using 3.0.6 because of stability. 2.9.6 had a problem on

You CAN backup windows servers with backuppc with either CIFS or rsyncd.
The you can do rsyncd on windows with cwrsync or deltacopy which is a

Might be worth doing a tail -f on the log file (/var/log/httpd I
think) this should give you some more information.
