Hi Robert,
Yes and it serves to expose just how weak I am at scripting. I
understand what is happening, however, translating Alexander's script
to a win32 script is likely a four to five hour operation for me -
that's why I was hoping someone had already taken it to task.

Yikes - my bad. It is part of the win32 build (where I've been

For starters, you can adjust the scripts to rename the database to
anything you wish. Just vi the scripts, search for the name of the
database "bacula", then replace those names where it appears to be
creating a database...should only be one place though.

I've seen a number of comments on the list about using a second DB,
usually mentioned as a second catalog, for particular purposes.
I've looked through both the User's manual and Developer's manual
looking for instructions on how to do this but I haven't found anything

Adam,
Take a look at the directive "Prefer Open Volumes". I had to set this
to No
to get concurrent jobs to run on 2 tape drives.
The only other significant difference that I see is that I have
AutoSelect
set to 'yes' in my config under the Device entry in the SD config file.

Well, there are several important considerations you need to be aware of:
1. If I am not mistaken, there were some problems with the version you are
using and we modified the format of the Volume data in some very particular
cases, so going to 2.0.2 in some special cases may not be compatible.
Hi,
I had a very simple setup for the last 12 months.

recycling old volumes
* keep the monthly tape(s) for 3 years
I didn't care much about the retention periods of the monthly tapes. I
just set the Volume Retention to 3 years for th
Hello, I've been running Bacula 1.39.18 since about August, and have
been very happy with it. I have also been using the data encryption
that was part of that version, now my question is this:
Will I be able to restore the encrypted data from my previous backups
once I upgrade to 2.0.2?

That got it fixed! I just needed to install the 64 bit version of the
bacula-client. I assumed the 64bit version would be available from
bacula.org through their sourceforge CVS but apparently someone else
maintains the 64bit version. Who would have known. Anyway...thanks for
the tip.

You didn't mention which version of Bacula you are using. I seem to recall
that this was just a problem of incorrectly printing the slot number.
More recent versions of Bacula (2.0.x) print the details of why the script
failed, which makes debugging these problems easier.

Bacula was in a consistent state, after the Friday nightly backup.
The drive 0 was loaded with slot 4 (friday tape).
At saturday job startup, the associated volumes were correctly recycled, and
bacula started moving the tapes. A
