Hi -
I'm curious about using Bacula in a slightly different way than it was
apparently intended. We have large directories of data that need to
periodically be moved offline to tape. I've got a Scalar 100 with two
LTO2 drives. I wouldn't be doing incremental/differential backups, or

I use a simple technique - my client configurations have an exclude
statement for "*.nobackup". If a user doesn't want to back up a
directory, he can rename the directory with a .nobackup 'extension'.
This is easier for a user to see and it's quite obvious later when he
adds additional file

Does anybody have any ideas? Even a "me too" would help at this
point, if only to determine if a common configuration issue can be
narrowed down...

Hi folks,
After a few Full jobs just failed, I noticed something that I thought
had disappeared a few months ago, but I'm seeing a problem where
Bacula's storage daemon knows there are jobs running on a drive, but
its "In Use Volume" status doesn't show the drive as in-use. As a
result, it
Has anybody run into this problem? This is the first time I've seen
this, and I've been running Bacula for almost a year. It looks like
two jobs simultaneously wanted the same tape -- I seem to recall the
need to use some sort of lock in the mtx script prior to 1.38, but

Hi All,
I just wanted to report back to the community on a successful restore
that really saved me. When a power plug was accidentally unplugged
from one of our primary file servers last week, 4 drives out of 12
stopped working, killing our RAID-5. I put the tapes used in last
month's full

Hi All,
For the past few months, I've had the following problem:
1. I run a series of jobs

earlier job but on another drive

Hi all,
Here was the situation this evening:
I'm backing up to a 3-drive LTO2 autochanger. There were six jobs
running, filling the max clients per drive (set at 2 concurrent jobs
each). All were full backups using a "Fulls" pool.

Hi All,
On a new installation of bacula, interfacing with three LTO2 drives
through an ADIC Scalar 100 autochanger, I've come across the problem
where multiple jobs are requesting the same volume on different drives.
This used to be a problem prior to 1.38.6-b1 but I'm running 1.38.9

I'm looking at using Bacula to provide backup for our remote

Yes, it puts an enormous load on the backup server; I'm not sure why.
I do utilize spooling for incrementals, but I expect them to be
slower (which they are).

Hi Dan,
I'm guessing: create two Storage resources, with different Media

This is what I do to handle the LTO-1 and LTO-2 drives in my changer.

Hi Mikel,
Does Bacula offer some of the same metadata selectability under MAC

I don't have any experience with generating client-side file lists,
but theoretically you could write a script that builds a list of

If you search the list archive, you'll see that I documented similar
behavior a few weeks ago. I submitted a bug report that apparently
may have been fixed, though a patch has not yet been issued.
