HI... our pets are a little freaked out as well... This year we're gonna
take them out where that night where fireworks aren't such a bother.
Drugs aren't the worst idea however if your dog is really a wreck during
the 4th.

I have a couple who got a puppy from me last year. This August they are
expecting a new baby human brother for their Berner, Oscar. They are an
incredible home, have been doing everything they can think of to get Oscar
ready, but are wondering if there is more they can do.
(I have never had kids,
A few years ago we had plans for the fourth and suspecting that it might be
a challenge for Emma (the most destructive berner ever) I put her in the
basement family room in a crate with the TV on to help with noise. When we
arrived home we discovered that Emma, true to her reputation, had broken

Some people did some great posts on berners and babies about a month ago
or less, try going to the www.berner.org site and click on berner-L

me know and I'll put them all together for you tomorrow, then we can put

Okay Elke, time to wake up. I know you are still recovering from that
long drive to Idaho and Montana but, if I'm not mistaken, the other half of
your beautiful brace (with Tuli) was Czar, not his brother Czarewich.
Regardless of names, they are truly magnificent together.

I thought you would all be interested to know that
Hallmarkcame up with a card showing two Berners in
it's Impromptu collection recently. I saw it in the
blank cards section at my local Duane Reade and go so
excited I had to get one.

I have good luck with the Bach Flower Remedy 'Rescue Remedy'. Also an
anxiety wrap will help http://www.alldogsschool.com/anxietywrap.htm
I fashioned my own anxiety wrap using a Popular Mechanics lifting
beltthe Velcro wide belt that we humans use when lifting heavy objects,
to avoid back
Ohmy lifting belt is a size small: fits 22 - 32 and it fits my small
and large Berners.

I use a long, wide Ace bandage that wraps around the dog's forechest, crosses
behind the front legs on the back, then under the belly, between the back
legs, up from under the tail, then each end goes under the bandage on the
appropriate side to hold it in place and the two ends are knotted. I
Again I ask, how could you get just one? I found them too, and bought all
four that they had.

Dear List;
For all of you who emailed me privately, I'm sorry that I forgot to add the
website. I think I was tired by then and copied it from my Leolist friend

Is it mean to give a tranquilizer to a human prior to a traumatic event
(like surgery or dental work)? Of course not! Same with your dog. It is an
act of compassion to help assist with a difficult situation. You are not
drugging him forever - just enough to help him cope.
I think Bennington will
