Hi all
Well once again my boy decided to freak me out. He started limping really
badly a week or so ago. And this was not on his left front [the bad elbow]
but his right front. Well, like all good berner owners, I totally lost it,
thought the worst, and was busy writing his obit, figuring it could
Hi, Sara. Could you give a brief explanation of what happens at a draft test...are
there levels, are titles awarded, are there just-for-fun events? I don't know much
about drafting; I'm signed up for a carting class starting in September, but don't
expect to be ready for any testing as soon as O
I too have a 3 mo. old female who's favorite pastime
is to pull up the grass to eat the dirt !! she also
likes to freak me out by eating mulch and sticks and

something just wno't pass and we will be at the vets

Hi All,
I just spoke with Pat Barlow, the Draft Test Secretary, and learned that, so
far, Watchung has ZERO entries for its 8th Draft Test! The test will be October
4th at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, NJ. The entries close at 4 PM on Friday,

There are numerous posts in the archives about no-pull harnesses, but
briefly - yes, I have used one on our dogs to train them out of pulling. I
used the one which has pieces that go under the front legs. The dogs very
quickly learned that THEY had to stop the pulling to get rid of that

HI all!
It is good to be back onthe list. We endured a
prolonged move and are settling into our new home.
I must also extend belated Happy First Birthday wishes

A good friend would be thankful for any information she might get from our
list members regarding the best type of no-pull equipment she might try. Her
story is she has a sweet pit bull, who, although she has trained both with
a private trainer and in a group class, will, when excited, forget her
I know in Canada it's illegal to sell a purebred dog without CKC
registration (not to say it's not done). I wonder if one could call the AKC
(or CKC) regarding these kinds of "breeders" (sorry to those who really
deserve to be called breeders).

Dear Barbara,
You are right to be suspicious, you've hit many of the red flags that
should send you running! The 717 area code is Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania - which has a very large big puppy mill industry that many
people are working hard to change. The bigger problem is that there are

Dear Listers: a couple of days ago I wrote asking for suggestions for a
friend whose 8.5 year old berner was having problems with a 'numb' leg. I
had lots of responses, and forwarded them to my friend. Here, for the
record, is her response:
>We are profoundly grateful to the respondents for their

Re

Thank you for sharing your experience and feelings with the list. Having
once, not so long ago, been in your position, I am always interested in the
thoughts of people who are looking for a Berner and trying to be an educated

I am not a breeder, so I can't comment on the "need to a
