I'm guessing it's to do with the change of software name, and the change
in location of cachedir, which means that it's not finding things
properly any more. I think it's tried to migrate cachedir somewhere
else, but I don't use the default location - I have set a different
location
As you guessed correctly this might be the issue: there is migration code
which will reset this value if it's considered the default value. This
obviously isn't detected correctly. Would it work again if you manually
set this value again?

Yes, that's the one.
Yes, that's the one. Log is also full of MP3 errors too. Scanner
looping.

Just to confirm (in case anyone else runs into a similar problem) - this
was resolved by a completely fresh install of SC, including deleting all
of my old directories in which SC has been installed at various times
and all of the cache and prefs folder (and a registry cleanup).

going on, but todays latest, and yesterdays, build dont have a working
scanner. Just keeps restarting and my library is empty. I have cleared
out the cache but this does not help.

I've had the same problems on my Tranquil Squash WHS server the
scanning just doesn't seem to be working at all. Also had problems
tying to restart the SC so have given up and gone back to 7.3.3.

Okay, that appears to be the problem. It had created a new folder C:\Documents
and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Squeezebox, and within it created a new
prefs folder.

streaming purposes. Extremely light weight and highly reliable. No
add-in as of yet, so regular install is required by way of RDP. It runs
beautifully on my 485. :)
Transcoding is done and you can set bitrate limits pr user.
