At 5:50 this afternoon I observed 2 Sandhill Cranes circling lazily in a
Northeast direction. They were seen from the intersectio of the 20th Sideroad
and the 2nd Line of Innisfil. They did not show any signs of wanting to Land
and I lost sight of them as the went out over Cooks Bay.

This afternoon I observed a Turkey Vulture feeding on a Road Killed Carcass of
a Racoon. It was observed on the 5th Line of Innisfil, 1/2 a km East of the
20th Sideroad on the North Side. I was able to get some Pics as it was more
intent on the Meal than my Car being stopped about 50 feet away!
This morning at about 11:30 Nigel Shaw and myself observed a Sub-adult Golden
Eagle. It was watched for more than 20 minutes as it came from the Lefroy
direction and proceded to Glide and Circle in a South Westerly direction. We
lost site of it as it probably reached the Intersection of Hwy 11 a
This morning at approximately 11am I had a White-crowned Sparrow along with a
half dozen White-throats.I believe this may be my earliest WCSP that I have had
in my Yard in the Fall!

This morning north of the 2nd Line of Innisfil on the 20th Sideroad I
observred 5 Ravens circling on a Thermal.This is the largest number of Ravens I
have seen at one time this far South.Just returned from Manitoulin Island
yesterday and hundreds of Ravens were seen.

This morning I observed a Shrike Species. The distinctive Mask, Grey Body and
Black Wings stood out even though the Bird was about 1/4 mile away. It was
being harassed by a couple of Jays,which gave good comparison to Size. I
wouldnt want to be to Bold, but given the time of Year ,this I think
This afternoon I stopped to watch a few hundred Geese in a Flooded Field on the
10th Sideroad of Innisfil, north of Hwy 89.There were no Ducks to be seen,
aSingle Trumpeter with Tag(Number unread) and 3 Snow Geese. 2 of the Snows were
White Phase and the third a Dark Phase.

Today was by far the biggest Hawk movement in Simcoe County thus far.from
Lefroy to Alliston I counted 42 Raptors. 34 of which were Red-tails,1 Kestrel,1
Red-shouldered,and 6 Turkey Vultures!
The largest amount came while pumping Gas at the Pioneer at Hwy 89 and
Tottenham Rd in Alliston. No f
This afternoon while driving through Lefroy on my way to Bradford, a lone
Turkey Vulture went over Killarney Beach Road in mid Town.It was travelling in
a Northerly direction at a fairly low alttitude.

This morning(9am) there was 1 Snow Goose amongst 2-3 Hundred Canada Geese on
the 2nd Line of Innisfil,East of the 20th Sideroad.This may well be the Snow
Goose that I reported on the 11th .It was feeding in the 2nd Field East of the

This afternoon at 3pm there was a single Greater Snow Goose amongst a flock of
Canada Geese.
It was found on Innisfil Beach Road about 1 1/2 Km East of Hwy 11 on the
South Side.There is a Red Barn near the Road and the Goose was in a Corn

Today at 1200 an adult female Rough-legged Hawk(light Phased) was observed by
myself for 10 minutes as it lazily circled Southward.It was observed near the
intersection of the 20th Sideroad and the 2nd Line of Innisfil.

This morning at 9 am there was a Juvenal Sandhill Crane feeding in a Hay Field
on the North-East Corner of the 20th Sideroad and the 3rd Line of Innisfill. It
was still there at 1:30 this afternoon.

This morning on Cooks Bay at Gilford,there were 2 Adult Bald Eagles feeding on
a Canada Goose out on the ice.There was a possible 3rd Adult (most likely 1 of

This morning at 10:40 an Immature Golden Eagle was seen by myself in the Town
of Innisfil.I was viewed for 5+ minutes at times without Binoculars as it
Circled . I could hardly believe my eyes when I learned it wasn't another TV
coming across the Field.It was viewed along the 2nd L
This morning I had an even dozen Pine siskins at my Feeders! They seemed to
keep their distance from the 20-30 Goldfinches that were also there. This seems
early to me,but I never have really had more than a few at a time before today,
on any other year.

Hydro wires to discern if it was perhaps a Starling doing some great

On Saturday a 2nd Year Bald Eagle was observed flying southward from Lefroy
toward Gilford.Also on Saturday 5 Great Egrets were observed flying about the
Lefroy/ Gilford(20thSR&2ndLine) areas.

This morning myself and Nigel Shaw observed a couple of Wild Turkey with
approximately 7 Poults. The Poults were we guessed about 2 weeks old by the
size comparison to the Adult Birds. They barely were a quater of the Adult size.
This seems unusually late for young Turkeys of this age

20th Sideroad.It was obeserved on the south side of the road in a small
Cedar,near the end of the 2nd Line.It flew a little furter south of the Road
when I stopped (as I noticed it).It was accompanied by a couple of Cro
This morning there were by my estimation more than 1000 Common Mergansers in
Cooks Bay in Gilford.Their numbers easily out weighed the Goldeneye and
Bufflehead Rafts.
This is the largest concentration of Common Mergansers I have witnessed.
Gilford is located at the Eastern most point of Hwy 89
Since December 4th there have been 14 Tundra Swans at the bottom of the 2nd
Line of Innisfil on Cooks Bay.Today there was also 19 Trumpeter Swans further
up the Shore to the North.
Yesterday an Adult Bald Eagle was also seen flying North from this
loacation.Good numbers of Common Goldeneye and
