Hey folks,
I was out to do the first Ontario Shorebird Survey for this year at the
wetlands and despite the rotten weather I had some great birds.
There were 3 RED-NECKED GREBES in the fenced in cell and at least one (which I
was able to photograph) was in pretty much breeding plumage and looki

Once again Red-necked Grebes are nesting in Bronte Harbour as they have every
year since 1997. The nest tire was recently installed and quickly occupied. As
of this afternoon there were no eggs. The nest is not a thing of beauty,
containing many large sticks. There is a photo on my Flickr page.
In addition to the Horned Grebes reported yesterday, there were three

Gentlemen;
It looks like the RNGRs are starting to come north. It will just be a matter
of consistently open water in Dyers Bay to get them to you. A giant lead (5 km
x 50 km has opened up just off Cape Hurd, but it is much too far away to see if
any waterfowl are using it.

Upon approaching them, they dove grebe-like and resurfaced further out into the

Greetings Birders,
I spent half a day birding and photographing in Col. Sam Smith Park. The
highlight was the large number of Red-necked Grebes; 50 were in the harbour
along with one pair of Horned Grebes. Constant courtship behaviour was observed
amongst many of the grebes. Also in the harbo

we were there. My apologies.
