A Western Kingbird has been reported this morning (September 11) at Colonel
Sam Smith Park "where the kites are flown" I don't think it's currently
being seen but is being searched for.

The long staying kingbird, found last weekend by Mark Patry, is still present at Fletcher Wildlife Garden; first seen sunning on a snag just south of the lane that runs down to Hartwell Locks, afterwards moving about in the general area. FWG is well sign posted on the east side of Prince of Wales
The Western Kingbird was easily viewed at 10:30 this morning in the same
location in the Fletcher Wildlife area as it has been reported. It seems to
favour perching in dead trees, sitting not at the very top but about 2/3
the way up. The row of trees it frequents separates the corn fields (near a
Paul Lagasi just called and said that the Western Kingbird has returned to
the same location just now after being absent all morning.
The bird can be seen from the Experimental Farm Pathway just south of
Fletcher Wildlife Garden off Prince of Wales Drive in Ottawa (45.383971,
-75.702882).

The Western Kingbird was present at 7:20 pm today at the previously
reported location.(Whitechurch and Miles Rd.) It was in one of the half
dead trees along the railway track(walking trail)on the North side of
Whitechurch Rd. for a while before flying to the other side of Miles Rd.

I observed the Western Kingbird from approximately 7:15 p.m. until just before
sunset, hawking insects in the same area as described by other reporters, left
of the small pond's footbridge. It was using the same couple of small leafless

I happened upon an adult Western Kingbird with three fledged [and still

discovered Oct 12th by A. Wormington is still present today Friday at
11:30am in the vicinity of Rd 19 and Conc D, ~ 1 km north of Pt Pelee Nat'l
Park on the Point Pelee peninsula.
