Subject: [Blind-Computing] External Hard Drive Question
One of my external hard drives has quit working. When I unplug the USB cord,
it lights up for just

We exchanged the SeaGate for a Western Digital My Book with it's own power
supply hard drive. I did Victor's steps to determine the formatting and
found that it was saying File System Fat32 and then I started to format this
and while I

as long as you have ntfs selected as the file format.

Hi Patricia,
As has already been mentioned, your drive is still formatted as FAT32, so
you'll have to do a full format in order to change it to NTFS.
You can't do a quick format, as this will simply erase all the data on the
drive, and will not change the file allocation table on the drive, so

When they are functioning properly, yes, they will show up there in the disk
drives heading, but for the most part, they will usually show up in the USB
