The problem, I think, is if teams drop out, they then shift the seedings of
teams below them. I.e.You are the 28 seed, schedulled to play the 5v28 at
10:00 am. But the 22 seed drops out. Now you are 27 seed, and the 6 v 27
game was set for 9 am (because top 5 teams were give a late star

way. Surely a team that finishes top 32 at tour 1 and then takes the rest
of the year off isn't really worth a place at nationals?
Probably true - but one could offer places at nationals based on total tour
points (i.e. you have to earn it), and then do seeding of
If people really are worried about 'underseeded' teams like Clapham2 and

One solution could be to decide the seeding based on AVERAGE points per
tour, rather than total?

I hate to jump in on a kit discussion these days
My thinking on numbers was that it was probably for ease of distinguishing
players by the opposition.
E.g. they are in a zone D, and we turn over - someone has to shout 'you've
got 18, I've got 7 etc.' - its easier and more polite than: 'you've
Dear BD
As a preface, may I say I have nothing but respect for the hard work the UKU
committee do...
But PLEASE can we re-do the website!?!? Especially rostering?
I have had to talk through the rostering procedure time and again this year
to players - even people who have done it in the past -
I agree that the way to improve Ultimate in the long run is promotion to
younger groups. But not just to build their skills early - instead,
promotion in schools will increase the overall player base and the number of
athletes who see it as a viable sport option.
I think this can and should be on
If any team would like a resonably experienced male pickup at the mixed tour

(I've played several years, with Hammerage, BAF, Sharks, and OW - got
references if you need 'em...)
Thanks

While its interesting to note the evolution of the football Referee, I think
Jon P made a valid point we need to remember when reading it - in the US,
observers were brought in because cheating started happening to a greater
extent - not the other way around. The same is seen here in the football
Dear BD
Does anyone know of a list of Pickup Games (in London, in my case)? During
the week or weekend?
Is this something we could perhaps have added to the UKUltimate website? I
know lists like that notoriously need updating, but there seems to be know
way to know where I can join a game dur

To continue, perhaps to the point of mindnumbness...
On Andy's point:
Again, I am interpreting the rules, which says that play resumes - this
implies to me that play needed to resume from some stopped point i.e. the

To give one view on your situation
Many of the rules do in fact require some interpretation.
I personally would not stall while the person is out of bounds -
My interpretation is, where it says:
"The player shall resume play at the point he or she went out-of-bounds." -
This states that pl

I think the discussion on how we play ultimate here is a useful one, but
lets not beat ourselves up too quickly about this.
I realise a lot of people just got back from Worlds, and saw the US take
most of the top 10 slots.
The US game is also more physical.
However, this does not mean we necessa
