at first didn't see them, but then did see two very large flocks, quite high.

For several years there has been an osprey nest at the top of the light tower
of the former landing strip at the Seneca Army Depot. It is visible from rt
96a, less than a mile past the entrance to the veterans cemetery

I saw something similar several years ago, probably about 7-8 miles north along
rt. 89. In this case, the red wing was on the back of the deer, rather than the
head. I didn't watch it long enough to see what the bird was doing, but the

While walking across the Ag Quad on the Cornell campus this afternoon, I heard
the screaming of a red-tail and looked up to see 3 flying overhead, just at the
height of the buildings. All seemed to be chasing a pigeon, but only one
continued to pursue it as the pigeon attempted to escape by
Mary Jean and I saw two short-eared owls along Wycoff Rd in Ovid this evening
between 6:15 and 6:45pm. We didn't see any near Center Rd. and Co Rd. 129.
