This morning David Bonter discovered an immature Peregrine Falcon on the
largest snag in the main pond at Sapsucker Woods. The Great Egret found
yesterday is still there this morning, foraging along the edge of the pond
farthest from the building. There also are two pairs of Wood Ducks on the

I've been seeing the peregrine at least once a week on Bradfield. Always on a
ledge on the side facing towards the greenhouses and Minn's garden. I saw it
yesterday (Saturday) morning around 10am, as well as a couple of times earlier

* a long scope view of an adult PEREGRINE FALCON gliding south over the lake
and inlet

I just witnessed an adult Peregrine attack a Red-tailed hawk from my office
window. The clash went on for approximately 3 minutes. First both of them were
in the air and tumbled a few times. Then the Red-tailed decided to alight on
one of the pipes of USDA building and stay put. Peregrine
I stopped by Stewart Park after lunch, on the way to do errands. I immediately
noticed a Red-tailed Hawk on the ice, working over the bloody carcass of what
appeared to have been a Mallard. Just then a Peregrine dove on the hawk and put
it up, then chased it away and into the lakeside willows.
On the Rochester Birding Association-hosted field trip onto the dikes at Knox-Marsellus a week and a half ago we first saw a Peregrine Falcon repeately diving at an immature Bald Eagle high in the sky. Later the tables were turned and a Bald Eagle attacked a Peregrine Falcon, so I don't know what

taking the time for 3 swipes at a red-tail sitting on one of the light poles.

I went to my front yard to pick up my moth light for winter storage when a dark

Last Thursday there was a dark juvenile Peregrine Falcon at Myers that
caught, killed, and flew away with a Ring-billed Gull. This was probably the
darkest Peregrine I have seen in the east. I posted a couple photos at the

At about 9:30 I was driving south on Lake Ridge Rd from King Ferry and

of the northwest tower of Bradfield Hall at 6:35am, which
would have been dark except for the lights of the greenhouses
below. It disappeared northwest out of my view behind a building.
No, I didn't see it from home, but from the Plant
I took a lunch walk today and did not see Peregrine on the Bradfield Cliff.
It seem to come only to roost. Hopefully it will nest, though I am not
sure how Bradfield building maintenance guys will feel about it! I did see
the excited Red-tailed Hawk circling over its future home.

Thanks to Ann Mitchell for noting this corner spot for the Peregrine
yesterday. We drove up at 4:45 and found it immediately, perched on the very
outer NW top corner of Bradfield. After it surveyed it's world for a while,
it turned, leaned down and fell straight down like a bungee jumper,

By the time Kevin McGowan arrived ~45 minutes later it was replaced by a
RED-TAILED HAWK. Meanwhile I had been scanning the lake and did not see where
it went, but honest there had been an adult PEREGRINE FALCON on the snag for
several minutes. When I first saw it, its ruffled back was to me,
