I'm just getting started on the e-mail list. I noticed that you own a 69 Chevelle and a 69 ElCamino. I also noticed that you were in Oregon. I live in Vancouver and just bought a 69 Chevelle 2dr hdtp. It is really nothing special, a 307 auto car, but it came to me as a frame off project. It is

Hey guys... I pulled my tank and dumped the old gas out, and thought I'd
clean it up a big...
The pic shows the tank after I cleaned up a bit over half of one side...
just water and a scotchbrite sponge.
After I took these I used a soft abrasive disk on my die grinder and
cleaned up the crap on
I've pulled the plugs and stuffed small cord into the cylinder, then turned
the crank to TDC.

You can use the old adapters that were made to keep your plugs from fouling.
They are the same thread as a common air hose, and of course they will screw
right into the plug hole. Any parts store would have these. They used to be
called "anit-foulers".

Hi Michael... a few places make a piece that screws into your spark plug
hole on the head, and you hook a compressor up to it, filling the
cylinder with compressed air
keeping the valves up... by far the easiest way to do it... I think they
may even sell them at Harbor Freight... I'm sure Powerh
Put a new cam in the '66 454; am now changing out the valve springs. First time I've done this, and it's going slow. Any tricks to keeping valves in closed position while compressing the spring? Seems it's more "luck of the draw" whether the stud-mounted compressor I'm using will press the valve in

Sorry if I sounded so negative. I'm not a
numbers-matching guy so that car would be more than welcome in my garage.
However,if you're trying to pass the car off as an original, you're going to have
to have documentation to back it up.

I assume the dealer would have had to
install the SS hood as that wasn’t a factory option. Gauges were
not a SS item but could be ordered on any V8 Malibu or SS and would have been
special order or either. I question the 375hp w/factory air as GM didn’t
put A/C on solid lifter engines. It
Some facts are apparent right away on the El Camino. There was no SS option
for El Caminos until 1968,GM did not offer a/c on solid lifter engines, and the
SS hood wasn't an option, either. If you bought it from the original
owner,where's the documentation?
Sorry,I don't buy the story.

YES MY 66 CHEVELLE IS VIN#138. BUT MY 66 ELCO CAME WITH SS OPTIONS HOOD
DASH GAUGES ECT. IT HAD A 396/375 WITH AC AS WAS TOLD BY THE ORIGINAL
OWNER. HE SPECIAL ORDERED IT WITH ALL THOSE OPTIONS. HE SAID HE SOLD
IT BECAUSE OF ONLY 10 MILES TO THE GALLON OF GAS. I HAVE NO REASON NOT TO

That's just it,John,,if you don't have those documents, you are kinda out of
luck. No,GM doesn't offer any help if it's a US-built car. If it's a
Canadian-built car,GM Canada will help.
Is your 66 a true SS?
