Hi all,
I am in the process of stripping the interior of my
'66 down to bare shiny steel with grinders and 3M discs. It's cleaning up
beautifully. I bought some of Eastwood's rust encapsulator to apply on the bare
metal (floors, firewall, under dash). I plan on painting the
interior the s

Hey guys,
I'm really glad this subject was brought up. I am
at the point with my 66 where I'm needing to think about how to prep all of the
metal. It would be great if someone could give an explanation of the different
types of primers, sealers, rust encapsulators, etc.. and their applicatio

I was wondering if any of you have used the SEM

Hey guys,
What is the proper way to compress those fingers on
the ends of the emergency brake cable? It looks like if they are all squeezed
together than the cable will come out of the backing plate/floor. I tried to do
this with a pair of pliers but wasn't getting anywhere.
Thanks!

Hi all,
I'm getting ready to start cleaning the interior
metal on my '66 and was wondering what kind of grinder (electric or pneumatic)
and discs work good for taking off almost 40 years of crud? All the metal is
rust free so I just need to get it clean for the POR15 or DP90 (haven't decide
Oh by the way, where exactly do you measure from
(end of tubes, axles or studs etc..) to determine the overall length of the
rear.
Thanks again!

Thanks Dale and Kent for the info. The lit I was
referencing said the same thing but I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing
anything. I have searched all over the axle tubes (wire brushed them to
shiny steel) and still can't find the code stamped! The only numbers I could
find was the one cast
Hey guys,
I bought a 12 bolt rear for my '66 Malibu and can't
find a 7 digit code on the axle tube anywhere. The only number I can see
is on the small triangular pad at the bottom left of the diff. Those
numbers are C216. I took the cover off and counted the teeth and it's a non-posi

Well hopefully I'm at the end of my tedious search
for a transporter. I've talked to about 40 companies and Owner/Operators. A lot
of them gave me misquotes (gave a price on the internet and then when I called
the gave me a different price)

Hi Craig,
Was that A AAAdvantage Auto Transport Inc. out of

competitive w/no hidden fees and the guy (Matt) I spoke with on the phone was
very professional. I would really like to hear your horror story if this
Hi guys,
Has anyone had to ship a non-runner from CA to FL?
If not how about a recommendation for a reliable company based out of anywhere.
I need to get a car from Bakersfield to Orlando.
Thanks!

Hi All,
I was wondering what you guys think about those
"reprinted" shop & assembly manuals. I bought an assembly manual for a 67
GTO from The Paddock (I think) several years ago & it was so bad I could
hardly read any of it! I am thinking about buying both a Chassis Service Manual

Thanks to all you guys who took the time to think

one where the welding is minimal. This being my 1st resto Chevelle (but not my

First let me say that I have enjoyed all of the

posted to the list. I would like to get some opinions on a 66 Malibu I am
