Hi Clint,
I have this conversion on my Elky. Unfortunately I didn't get to
drive it much before the change, so I can't say if it better or not. Based
on the driving I've done lately I can say I'm happy with the results. It
handles quite well (considering it has an alliron big block)compared

Brad,I really don't plan to drive my Elky on a
roadcourse so the conversion will probably come down to if I have the extra
funds when I purchase the Baer brake kit. Baeroffers a taller spindle
set-up with their brake packages.

Thanks for the input,Dave. From what I've read, the
loss of turning radius is not something that's easily rectified.

Not easily
rectified? Sure it is! If you really need to make a tight turn,
use your right foot to decrease the turning radius. You can explain to
the officer that you were not doing donuts
Clint,
There are a few that have done it that
lurk at Team Chevelle in the Brakes Suspension forum. They swear by the tall spindle theory but I
dont know if thats just a side effect of getting 12 brakes
or not. With my 13 BOLT-ON-TO-STOCK-SPINDLES
Baer system and the 17 Nitto tires,
110%
completely worthwhile. I have my '70 Chevelle with tall spindles, 12"
brakes and Hotchkis a-arms and it's just night and day compared to my stock '72
El Camino.

you performed the conversion? What is the condition of your suspension on your

Thanks for all the feedback, guys. I guess I'm going
to do a lot more research before I make any decisions about the taller spindle
set-up.

Hi Guys,
I missed the earlier thread about the tall spindle set up, but will add my $.02 anyway.
I have a 65 elky and I used tall spindles from a 78 buick wagon along with the l1e iroc z 12" rotors. I also used a complete global west suspension set up front and rear. I replaced the 9" drums out
