I agree and I like the lacquer finish over a 2 step base coat clear coat paint. I have seen many very nice base coat clear coats. Still on a personal opinion think lacquer is just number 1 with a beautiful glass finish that cannot be matched. But I also know lacquer is an unforgiving finish

According to my SS restoration guide - All 64 - 72 Chevelle's were painted
in lacquer from the factory. The nice thing about lacquer is it's quick
drying - so paint flaws
