A friend of mine recently purchased a Catalyst 2924 XL switch - 24 port
10/100 Ethernet switch - 1U no expansion ports.
We were looking at the IOS configuration and I noticed a line that said no
ip routing. I went into the global config mode and sure enough I could
enter the command ip routing.
You could try looking for a tool called
Just For Fun Network monitoring (or something like that).
I came accross it a week or two back and thought it looked quite good. I
think it may have been on sourceforge.

Peter

Vic,
One of your 4Mb Flash Modules might be bad, did you try using them alone? I
had the same problem on a 2600, but with 2x8Mb Flash config. What I did was:
using a third 8Mb Flash Module, replaced one module at a time, reload the
IOS, reload the router until it worked.
If you can't try that,
I cut out some of the other messages to concentrate on one issue,
automated IDS responses. If your automated IDS responses result in a
automated packet filter of any sort, I think you are doing yourself
a disservice. You might stop some kiddies, but you are just leaving
yourself wide open to
Check out MRTG - it is awesome and also free.

The settings look fine (though sometime 1 stop bit can be tried as well).
Also verify flow control is set to none.
The cisco rollover cable is 1-8 = 8-1 pinouts. I'm guessing you are
using the cisco adapters and cable?

For status on *nix Nagios(http://www.nagios.org) is the way to go. For

it's less than $200 or free if you have less then 10 checks. MRTG or

Hello voice and QoS guru's. We are currently finishing up on installing a

I managed to get around 512kbits of troughput on a 827 with 32MB RAM
installed. This was on a 3DES tunnel to a 3005, the processor was at 80 to
90% so I guess you wont get much more than that.

other option is just to surf EBAY.

This is my point exactly. I don't allow my IDS to respond to attacks for
the very reason you stated. It could easily force a DoS. I think a lot
of people don't take this into consideration. The vendors push automatic
response as a sexy feature when it really could be a major nuisance. Let

Dan,
This sounds like a good job for an EXPECT script. Easy to learn and use.
There is a good web page at expect.nist.gov if you want to take a look at
it. There is also a good O'Reilly book.
