Hi all,
Small problem
We got an update today from 128kb to 512kb leased line.
We got 2 3640 routers, 1 on each end off the leased line . IOS on first
3640 12.0(13) on second 3640 router 12.0(4).
Both routers have a NM-4T module.
On first router:
All is up, DCD=up DSR=up DTR=up
Euhhh
Weird stuff ... Ain't the wife glad that you are trying to learn stuff to
get a better payed job or that you feel better yourself by learning new
stuff that makes you more confident ??
I sure know my girlfriend won't go on a shoppingspree :) She would only be
sad that i didn't make it.
Dating and married ? :)
I have been dating for 11 years now, yes .. with the same girl :)
Would seem like a marriage dont you think ?
BUt i guess it's the same everywhere, that you have to sign a paper that you
don't leave after getting a certificate. They mostly wanna kaap you a year
or more,
Just build a 19rack where ya put in your switch .. I did to and you can
hardly hear the switch :)
I don't even have ventilation in that 19rack and the switch keeps on
running.
Grtz,
JT

You have to enable remote shell on your router.
ip rcmd rsh-enable
ip rcmd remote-host =
enable
Then you can use remoteshell command from your Unixbox and execute a =
command
on the router.

Hi all,
Is it possible to dial into a router with a Windows machine (NT or WIN2000)
and let the router callback the windows machine ??
I searched the net for it, also on Cisco CCO but couldn't find what I was
looking for.
Anyone who knows this ??
Cheers,
JT

Unless your Win2000 box is turned into ISDN terminal equipment I don't see
how you'd do it. Are you terminating your ISDN line on your windows box?

Dears..
Who know which one is the best ?
Which one is the best
in
this IT industry, or just at my place?
Guess I took my CCNP simply out of pride, just to show that whatever you
guys can do, I can do too.
And perhaps, out of pride too, I will take my CCIE.

We have a configuration at our company that has the same configuration as
you just described.
But somewhere along the line .. This doesn't seem to work that well.
We got about 4 vlans, all vlan interfaces have an ip helper address to our
DHCP server. Problem is that 8 out of 10 times, a DHCP
to a WinNT server to do
DHCP, but the problem still remains.
The thing we have configured in the router is only an ip-helper address on
each VLAN interface. What about the ip dhcp-server command ... Do you have
to configure that one to ?
With kind regards,

If someone is into this RSA stuff .. and is willing to help me out .. I
would happily explain the problem in a private mail.

FAQ,
Hello,
I got an 1603 router thats connected to a 2Mbit leased line. I want to use
the traffic-shape command on the eth0 and the serial interface to make sure
the traffic doesn't get above fe. 512 kb.
I tested it with 2 2500 routers and it worked perfectly
Question is ?!?
Can the 1603
What's all this bragging about ??
Isn't this group here to help eachother out with problems and with exams and
stuff ?!?!?
I do not want to have my mailbox full of mail off people who made CCNP or
something else in a few days or weeks or months etc.
sincerly yours,

Well 11 bits of subnetting is : 255.255.255.224
Class B subnet is always 255.255.x.x so 11 bits of subnetting means after
the first 2 255's you got 11 bits of subnetting. Wich is another 255 and
then 3 bits of the host adress wich comes to 224. So there you got your
255.255.255.224 subnet mask.
Hi,
I'm having a discussion with some colleage's of mine about the management
VLAN.
One says thaty the management VLAN will let trough broadcasts I'm
saying that it will not let trough broadcasts. The management VLAN is only
to manage your switches and routers by telnetting etc. and it
Hi,
Just to point out to some that replyed to my message...
Management VLAN is something different than a normal VLAN. The management
VLAN is mostly on every trunk port of a VLAN configuration. So if I have
about 6 different VLAN's on different trunk ports, the management VLAN would
also be on
Only when you use a 4000 switch in your setup, then you cant use ISL
encapsulation, cause it doesn't understand it.
With a 4000 switch you'll need to go with dot1q encapsulation.

Hello,
I got a situation for ya'll :)
On a 4500 router we have a PRI connected. We use this line for remote
control for custumors on different locations.
Now. A lot of times we get calls from our telecom provider that some lines
to custumors are open for mare than a couple of days. We haven't
Well a good thing to do is to segment your network. As you are working with
hubs, you'll get a big collision domain. It is more expensive but exchanging
the hubs with 3500 switches is a good idea. This way you can make seperate
VLAN's.
With these VLAN's you'll get smaller collision domains.
Be sure that you don't forget the security issues.
An acceslist alone is not enought to protect your company's network when
your users have to connect the the company's network, and then connect to
the internet via the router and proxyserver.
